Bee Correa is an emerging multidisciplinary artist who works primarily in painting, and occasionally in photography, sculpture, and ceramics. Correa paints curvaceous people of color, using stretch marks, piercings, and various body shapes to represent their confidence and encourage acceptance of beauty beyond conventional norms. Their murals, and large-scale acrylic paintings, reference radical mainstream animation like Steven Universe and Adventure Time, which challenge gender binaries, race, and the normalization of idealized body types.
Correa has worked as a community organizer and teaching artist assistant for PRAXIS City Arts Parks. They recently completed a mural at Slanguage, and have exhibited at the Winston Hewitt Studio, Melrose Trading Post, and The Brown Art Club. Correa serves as a committee member on the Dominguez Hills University Art Committee for public art and worked for Seaton Press at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. They served as president of the DH Arts Collective and will receive a B.A. in Studio Art at California State University Dominguez Hills.
