Michael E. Berry is an emerging artist and illustrator from Whittier, California who paints the psychological and physical traumas of war. Berry documents military personnel across modern history and their teamwork, courage, sacrifices, and care for each other. His graphic oil paintings on canvas, illustrate society changing, and soldiers’ stories changing. Triggered by the observation of mental health and housing challenges faced by veterans, his art practice connects military history to contemporary life, acknowledging what changes and what remains unchanged in war.
Berry collaborated with the LA County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk to create art for the 2020 Presidential Primary Election and exhibited his work in Drought at the University Art Gallery. Berry will receive his B.A. in Studio Art from California State University Dominguez Hills in 2021.
