Jeannette Garcia is an artist, organizer and educator, that explores themes of labor, immigration, and family. Her work is connected to memories from her childhood, family history, and personal experiences that have shaped her as an individual. Her love of plants and flowers comes from having fruit and flower-filled gardens as a child.
Garcia’s personal goal is to create dialogue about the sacrifice, accomplishments, and recognition of those who work labor-intensive jobs. She is an interdisciplinary artist primarily working with photography and using photo transfers, and paint.
Garcia has worked for The Under The Sun Foundation, Candlewood Arts Festival, was a board member of the DH Art Collective, and teaches youth at the Huntington Beach Art Center. She has co-curated exhibitions. In 2018 she received degrees in both art and art history from Cypress College. Garcia has co-organized public programming for youth and families in South Los Angeles.
She received her bachelor’s degree in Studio Art from California State University, Dominguez Hills in Spring 2020. She is the first in her family to receive a bachelor’s degree.
