Climate Justice
The Brackish Water Los Angeles team closely followed and/or collaborated with several climate and social justice initiatives. A number of these organizations are featured below.
Brackish Water Los Angeles participated in the PST ART Climate Impact Program, a groundbreaking integration of climate action, community building, and data reporting as part of Getty’s landmark recurring arts event. Getty has provided participating organizations with education, resources, and tools to build community and take lasting climate action, as well as a framework for completing climate impact reports related to PST ART exhibitions. The PST ART Climate Impact Program is organized by LHL Consulting.
CSUDH Office of Sustainability and Center for Sustainability and the Environment
The Office of Sustainability, housed under the department of Facilities Services, works collaboratively with stakeholders in administration, academics, and student services to promote and implement sustainability practices across campus.
The Center for Sustainability and the Environment serves as a university resource for harnessing the interdisciplinary strengths of academic programs on campus and strives to institutionalize environmental sustainability within academic programs and curricular/research activities. opportunities in the area.
Sacred Places Institute
The mission of Sacred Places Institute is to build the capacity of Native Nations and Indigenous Peoples throughout California, the United States, and around the world to protect sacred lands, waters, and cultures.
East Yard Communities for Environmental Justice (EYCEJ)
East Yard Communities for Environmental Justice is a community-based organization that works to facilitate self-advocates in East Los Angeles, Southeast Los Angeles and Long Beach.
By providing workshops and trainings, EYCEJ prepares community members to engage in the decision-making processes that directly impact their health and quality of life.
Friends of the Los Angeles River (FoLAR)
FoLAR builds capacity for communities, students, and future leaders to advocate for nature, climate, and equity on the Los Angeles River.
The Chapter House
The Chapter House is a place for Indigenous Peoples and allies to appreciate art, convene and collaborate, celebrate individual and shared Indigenous cultures, and explore the complexities of the 21st Century Indigenous experience. It is a space for Indigenous empowerment and community, where all who share a desire for universal empowerment are welcome.
Meztli Projects
Meztli Projects is an Indigenous-based arts & culture collaborative centering Indigeneity into the creative practice of Los Angeles by using arts-based strategies to support, advocate for, and organize to highlight Native and Indigenous Artists and systems-impacted youth.
Tongva Taraxat Paxaavxa Conservancy
The vision of the Tongva Conservancy is to rematreate the land to California native plants and Tongva people.
Los Angeles Waterkeeper
Los Angeles Waterkeeper’s mission is to fight for the health of the region’s waterways, and for sustainable, equitable and climate-friendly water supplies.

Brackish Water Los Angeles is among more than 60 exhibitions and programs presented as part of PST ART. Returning in September 2024 with its latest edition, PST ART: Art & Science Collide, this landmark regional event explores the intersections of art and science, both past and present.
